4.8 log reduction on Nilotinib

Just come back from Hospital today & would like to share some good news with you. My BCR ABL results were back, a suprise as the bone marrow biopsy was only taken 2 weeks ago. I have acheived a 4.8 log reduction!! Wow! Have been on Nilotinib for about 6 months, 12 months ago it was 3.6 log.
Shall open a bottle of bubbles tonight.
I now need to go & find out exactly what this means as log reductions confuse me (easily done) but i do know its a good result!
21 months ago when I was first Dx I was terrified of what my future might hold. Today I am so greatfull for the treatment & support I have received both from the hospital staff, family friends and this site too.
Thanks for letting me share this with you. We must never give up no matter how hard the road is.

This is an outstanding result. Most labs' PCR equipment is not sensitive enough to report PCR values greater than 4.0. Consider your result as being the elusive PCRU.

Well done,

Zavie

Dear Ali,
just seen your note about your fantastic response. What a great result given that you were so fearful that you would not be able to continue taking Tasigna due to the initial skin rash.
I am really really pleased to hear this news.

I hope you are still celebrating ;o)
Sandy
