Hi - my hubbie was diagnosed in Feb 2015 in the Chronic stage - he is current on Nilotinib (Tasigna) Got the results today for his BCR-ABL test - its at 0.046% - consultant is happy :-) Is there ranges?? Thanks Kerrie

Hi Kerrie,

Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry to hear your husband was diagnosed with CML, but I'm really pleased to see he had a fantastic response to the Tasigna. He has easily achieved a Major Molecular Response (MMR) and this is where most patients (and their doctors) aspire to be. MMR is achieved at 0.1% BCR-ABL, and quite frankly, anything lower than that really is a great response and icing on the cake. Some patients get a deeper response and their BCR-ABL levels become undetectable.

It sounds like he's made excellent progress and providing there are no complications and he strictly adheres to his medicine, he should (probably) have a normal life and life span.

Please feel free to ask any questions as we have people on here with lots of years with CML under their belt.

Chris

Hi Kerrie,

Those are good numbers for him, at this stage. It took me over 2 years to get to anything below 0.05%, and I'm doing very well now.

Leukaemia Net suggests that anything above 0.1% after a year of treatment is considered "warning" (NB: not 'failure'). Since he is well below that after only around 6 months shows he's having a great response.

I'm not surprised his consultant is happy, it's an optimal result.

David.
