Nilotinib effect on pregnancy when male is the patient

Hi

Im looking to get in touch with people who have fathered children while on nilotinib. Im on nilotinib and am planning to have kids. I went off nilotinib for 3 months to make sure effect on sperm if at all woud be gone. I had only one attempt but wife didnt get pregnant n now i had to restart as bcr abl went above 1%
From whatever i read i dont think there's any known effect on sperm or fetal abnormalities if male is on nilotinib but id like further clarification from the experts

My dr indirectly mentioned he does not think therel b an effect but advised he cant guarantee anything as not enough studies so he advised period off and best not to conceive while im on drug

Hi!

If I were you, I would invest the time in watching this recording a a conference Nigel Deekes (from this board) and I were at a few months ago. The conference was CML Horizons, and there was a session on CML issues particular to younger people, which focussed in part on fertility.

Here is the stream:

Here are the slides:

It'll be 45 minutes well spent, even if it doesn't answer all your questions.

David.

Thanks david....ill definitely give it a look soon....

Hi, please read the following discussion thread (just lower down this page). I think there is a lot of positive feedback on fathering children whilst remaining on therapy.
