GLIVEC- 5 years on

joseph posted the link to the novartis video which celebrated 5 years of glivec therapy this year. some of us were able to watch this UK version of the video at a recent function organised by novartis....it is really worth watching and -at least ror me-very moving as i get to see and hear the man who saved my life... dr. druker.
we will put it as a permanent link when our tech guy returns ;o)

Joseph - thank you for this link. Like Sandy, I felt very emotional watching it and in particular watching Dr Druker to whom so many owe a huge debt of gratitude, including Val and me. Perhaps the most amazing thing is to watch Dr Druker getting such obvious pleasure from seeing patients coming to him to tell of the arrival of their second and then third grandchildren and the photographs of them he has on his wall which he looks at every day. Then he says "What an incredible reward!" What an incredible man he is not just for what he has done (and is still doing) but his modesty and his kindness that go with it! This has reminded me to thank you again, Dr Druker. You have given Val and me our lives back - that is a truly precious gift that his research made possible.
