eye sight and Glivec

Good afternoon everyone
Interesting fact came my way today. Attended at local hospital in Henley today to have a problem I have with cateracts looked at. The dear consultant who examined my eyes, was not too sure how they came into existance, and was intersted in my medications. Her conclusions were that they could have been caused in this form by the medication I have used over the past 5 years.
Is this a side effect or is she up a gum tree ? Has anyone else had anything similar ? The up side of this is that they are 'simple' cateracts and easy to do also she will correct my short sight at the same time, Whoopeee ! will be able to shoot again.
Best wishes to everyone

Hi Keith,
I developed cataracts in both eyes about 2 years after a stem cell transplant. I've read quite a few posts from cml patients needing the same lens replacement operation as myself since then.
The people at Manchester said it was caused by the drugs or the interferon. So no, it isn't unusual.

Hi Dennis
Thank you very much for your info, I will pass this onto consultant eye lady when I see here next, possibly with only the one eye that works at present

Keep smiling

Keith
