Travel Insurance with a bank account.

I have just opened a bank account with Nat West. This is called the ADVANTAGE GOLD current account. It costs £12 a month but you get- Mobile phone insurance, Purchase Protection, Extended Warranty on electrical goods, Identity Theft protection and most importantly TRAVEL INSURANCE COVER for me and Carol including CML.

I was asked 4 questions relating to pre existing conditions. I am now covered worldwide and so is Carol after her spinal/neck fusions.

I suggest if you are interested ask Nat West for a brochure on this account then before opening an account phone up the travel insurance section. Get a reference number and when they say you are covered then open the account. Its cheap at half the price.

Good luck.

P.S. If you take out the cover make sure you get a confirmation in Writing. I had to ask several times for the confiramtion.

Thanks for the info Steve. We have always accepted that we will not be covered for Gary's CML but have always travelled within Europe, taking an E111 with us. We just decided that IF anything went wrong, we would pay for flights home however, this information you have supplied is of great interest. Sorry for the disctinct lack of contact recently. We are now back online and able to email again, we've not been able to send any out since the start of October. I will email you under separate cover with all our news. Hope you are both well, email you soon. RACHEL xxx

I have had good treatment from Lloyds TSB with travel insurance. They likewise cover me for world travel on an annual basis with my Gold Account. They wanted to know full details but readily offered cover excuding CML. As I feel that CML will not be the need for insurance, much more likely stolen property or a broken leg I am happy to accept this.I was refused cover by almost all other insurers I approached.

I apologise for not having posted for some time but I do I find it very, very useful to read the information.

I was diagnosed DEC '04 and now have a latest PCR reading ,done at Hammersmith, of 0.009%. However. they have put me on Glivec holiday at the moment as they do not like my
' liver readings' whatever that may mean.
I hope I return to my 400mg dose later this week.

Keep up the good work all you regular posters and many thanks.

Hi Barry
Have you tried taking Milk Thistle to help your liver metabolise Glivec ? Milk Thistle is a herbal remedy which helps the liver to clean itself. I took it when I had some liver problems with Glivec and the liver counts went back to normal in no time.
Just a thought.
Great PCR !!
