Hi,
I came across an article from 2001 from USC that they were working on using leptomycin B with Glivec to kill the CML cells completely. It sounded cutting edge and promising but this was at the first trials of Glivec.
I have had a look through a few of the CML support sites but have found no current references to this. Was this something that was found unsuccessful?

I seem to remember something about leptomycin but can't recall what happened etc... will try and find out.
By the way, just back from a meeting in Germany and they mentioned raised creatine could be to do with some muscle problem ..... Let me know what happens at your next visit.

i remember some excitement surounding this some years ago. apparently it kills cml cells very efficiently... in the test tube.... but the problem was possible unacceptable toxicity in humans...... maybe they have overcome some of these problems.
creatine: at the conference this last weekend dr. hochhaus mentioned raised creatine levels indicate that your kidneys need extra support to do their job........ muscle pain etc is an indication of this...... his suggested that 2.5 litres of plain water should be the minimum amount taken daily to counteract this (and other)side effect and help support the kindney function. at the risk of sounding like a broken record, you should
drink as much plain water as possible.

Thank you for the update on this from the German conference. I have upped the water intake (it's amazing intitially how hard this was to do) but now it goes Ok. I have found some bottled waters make me go more frequently than others...so I have found some that is great and I manage to put at least two bottles a day (3 litres) down..
I have an appointment tomorrow to see how well its working! Wish me luck
