Time of year for thinking about travel insurance. Normally I give up at the first hurdle and just do not try to cover the CML as we tend to holiday very much in mainstream Europe and with the EHIC card I am happy to accpet the risks associated with travelling with CML. This year I checked through the travel insurance section of the site and decided to be brave and give Age Concern (Fortis) a go. (Age concern do not just cover the 'elderly'!) Amazingly they have agreed to cover me, my husband and my family on an annual europewide policy for a total of £105 which will cover CML related claims - this is a very competitive quote. The questions regarding CML are reasonably sensible such as any changes in drug regime in recent past, any hospitalisations in last 2 years, etc etc - essentially the questions are such that if your CML is reasonably stable and your drug regime is also stable they will be happy enough to cover it. We have decided to take the cover since it gives us peace of mind for a year as regards holiday insurance - suggest they are worth a go for anyone else looking for an annual policy.
For all those people I met at the CML conference, we have indeed now moved to St Andrews from Edinburgh - thoroughly enjoying our more rural existence - all 4 kiddies have settled well in new schools and the dog is very happy - off to Portugal for a week in April in search of some sunshine and warmth...
