I have had a scroll through the discussion forums and I hope I am not doubling up on anything but has anyone had any problems with jaundice whilst on Glivec? I was diagnosed in March this year and started on Glivec in early April. In September I had a tummy bug that laid me low for about 10 days, about a week after that I ended up in hospital with jaundice. All the tests (CT/ Xray/ hepatitis) have come back negative so the thought seems to be it could be the Glivec. I am currently off the drug awaiting a decision from the liver specialist and Haematologist (possibly after a liver biopsy)and i wondered if anyone else had had this effect?

Hi Karen,
maybe it would be helpful if you tried to support your liver with Milk Thistle which is a herb that is widely available and quite safe to take with Glivec.
Glivec is synthesized through the liver (as are many drugs) and so can put a strain on its function. If your liver enzymes are raised this would indicate that your liver is struggling to do its job.
Over the years quite a few of those who have had elevated liver enzymes have found Milk Thistle to be very helpful.
