Thyroid nodules anyone?

Well it seems to be my time for problems ! Have been having severe back pain so had a CT scan, then a ultra sound and 3 nodules were found on my thyroid gland. Am on the list for an urgent needle biopsy.

Do any of you know of any link between Nilotinib or CML and thyroid issues?

Obviously at the moment I have no idea what will be found, and of course am worried it might be a malignancy, but am hoping that the worst is cysts that can be treated easily.

Sometimes life sucks!

Hi Pennie,
usually nodules indicate an underactive thyroid glad... hypothyroidism. Both my mother and sister-in-law have underactive thryroid and have had nodules (both had them removed).. this is caused by the thryroid gland trying to produce more hormones by exetending itself...hence the extra nodules.
It is extremely rare for them to be malignant... so try not to worry about that.
Usually you will be offered Thyroxin. This works for some people but only supports T4 levels and there is a lot of research that shows you should support (supplement) both T4 and T3 if you are to benefit significantly.
If you have a blood test for your thryroid levels ask them to make sure they test not only TSH (thyroid stimulating hormome) and T4 but also T3. This is crucial.
There is a product called Armor (sp?) which my sister-in-law in presecribed (nhs) that supplies both hormones...

Once you support your thyroid function at the correct level for you, then you will be amazed at how much better you will feel.
Let us know how you get on.
