You are here

An introduction and a thank you

Hi everyone,

My name is Lynn, I am 38yrs old and although I live in London I work in Glasgow during the week. I was diagnosed with CML last month and have been taking Glivec for 30 days. I consider myself lucky, as it appears I have been caught at an early stage and that I am in Glasgow, as I have been referred to an amazing team at Gartnavel Hospital.

It is still very early days for me and I'm not quite sure if it’s really sunk in yet that I have cancer, but, I am feeling strong (well most of the time)and positive. I wanted to convey my thanks to this site, the information has helped both myself and my family and friends come to terms with the diagnoses and the forums and blogs have been a great reference point for all of my questions and uncertainties.

Is there a conference in London this weekend at Hammersmith hospital and if so is it OK to turn up?

Thanks again
Lynn

I have emailed you separately but thanks for your comments.

I am very glad to hear that your husband is doing well; although you're told that Glivec has amazing results its actually good to hear real life stories of people who actually are responding well.

I look forward to meeting you on Saturday.

Hi Lynn and welcome to this forum. I hope you continue to find it supportive and informative as time goes on. You are fortunate to be treated at Glagow as Tessa Holyoake who heads the team is a renowned CML clinician and researcher.

I am sure you will find a lot of benefit from meeting with others at the hammersmith group meetings.Especially as you are so recently diagnosed. It always helps to meet others who have experience with the disease and with the therapy.

Best wishes,
Sandy
