Contacting the Media?

If anyone is willing to contact national media (radio and print) who might be interested to talk with patients about the NICE ACD, then please contact me and I will let you know who would be the best to contact. It would be good if we could try to persuade them to run with this story. Daily Mail has something online today, but we need to keep up the momentum.

I think the 'drug apartheid' tag is a very good headline, I feel the general public and press will see the complete unfainess of a National Health service in which Wales and Scotland get these drugs when the English, who pay for them to do so, cannot. In my opinion we should push this angle further.
I also think that reminding our MP's that with an upcoming general election it is not really in the current Labour governments interests, to have people all over the country going public about this disgrace. I for one will be 'suggesting' this to my local Labour MP.

Craig, might it also be good to query the £1million that Labour put into Commissioning Support Service which, according the News of the W was set up to put pressure on NICE (not to sanction expensive drugs)...see my previous link. My M.P. has blocked my emails!!!

I couldn't agree more with the "drug apartheid" tag...it's very hard-hitting and there are quite a lot of people who don't agree with the political and financial "arrangements" particularly with Scotland...might have something to do with the number of Scottish M.P.'s sitting?

Vickie

Yes I read that with horror Vickie, its almost farcical. What will happen if the people in England who need these drugs are forced to move to Scotland, and then the Scots can't afford to fund the extra patients it just goes on and on !!!!!
Your MP has blocked your e-mails!!!!!, good grief, that is scandalous, get onto your local press about it, see what he or she does then, I cannot believe that !!!!

Hi Sandy

I've written an email to Dr. Chris Steele at "This Morning" on ITV but I haven't heard a reply. I think Jed's Story should be given to Dr. Chris Streel and see if he can get on national television.

Angela

If any of you want to contact journalists that might be interested I have some contacts. One or two of us are already doing this.
It is quite difficult to keep the interest up and so you need to target those who are more likely to run with a story from the patient point of view.
