BCR/ABL Results

Hi

Just got my latest results, and I am a little disappointed. For over two years the results have steadly come down to 0.029% in June, but Septembers reading was 0.036%.  I am not sure if I am worried or not. It doesn't seem to be a big increase, or is it the start of an upward trend.  I now can't wait for Decembers test.

.

Know how you feel Tony....for a while now, I've been trying to ignore the tiny rises that are going on with me, but having failed to get response from Glivec and getting a good response from Sprycel, like you, I'm itching a bit to get at the December results having only just been to the hospital today!!!

Silly really when you think how far we've come!!! It's also silly cos there isn't a darn thing we can do about it!!!

Hi Vickie

You are quite right, nothing we can do but wait. Extra G&T tonight. Perhaps touch base again in December with good results for both of us.

Tony

Darrens specialist says he has a lady that is forever up and down over a 10 year period but it always stays low enough that they dont worry, think its quite common.

When Darren gained a resistance to it has results went up quite quickly, so hopefully that helps ease your worries.

Hope your ok and large G&T helped

Hi Tony, your are absolutely right- this is not a big increase. when you look at your 2 pcr results they really the same i.e no increase in log- no loss of a zero. not even half a log

0.029% to 0.036%......? in the scheme of things, and on its own this result would not be considered clinically significant.

If you lose one of the zero's then that might be a cause for concern- but only as long as there are at least 3 results (a trend) which showed the same order (or more) of increase.....

I suggest more G&T's and a lot more optimism ;o)

Best wishes,

Sandy

Hi Tony, you have been given very good advice by Sandy. A trend is the important guide to follow, but realize that the QRT-PCR test is not 100% accurate. It's an "amplified" result. I sometimes wonder if exactly the same results would be obtained on two or more tests done using the same sample, in the same Lab.

Good luck and best wishes

Basil

Sorry, the 'net fell down and I did not realize that my post had been logged.

Hi Everbody

Thanks for your support,It has made waiting until December for the next test easier.
