Responding directly to NICE

NICE as you know do not accept letters from individual members of the public, but you can visit their website and complete a commentary on the Appraisal Committee’s preliminary recommendations at the end of each of the 7 Sections that make up the AC document.

Go to: http://guidance.nice.org.uk/TA/WaveR/99/Consultation/DraftGuidance

You are limited to 1,200 characters per Section and its important you attempt to address the 4 topics listed below that the Committee is seeking your comments on when you reply at the end of each Section.

These are

  1. Has all of the relevant evidence been taken into account?
  2. Are the summaries of clinical and cost effectiveness reasonable interpretations of the evidence?
  3. Are the provisional recommendations sound and a suitable basis for guidance to the NHS?
  4. Are there any aspects of the recommendations that need particular consideration to ensure we avoid unlawful discrimination against any group of people on the grounds of gender, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, religion or belief?

Once you have completed all your responses to each of the 7 Sections  and clicked the “Submit: button there is an opportunity for you to preview what you have written before sending it off.

I plan to produce some guidance for this exercise this week so you can, if you wish, wait until then before completing the entry boxes.
