Hi Emma,

Of course you can attend the patient/carer meeting even if you are not treated at the Hammersmith it is for all patients & carers treated at any hospital & we are a very friendly group I know from reading you posts on here you are quite new to CML but see you are doing well.

I t would be  lovely to meet you & also for you to meet other CML patients & carers it really helps to talk to others in the same situation & will also give you the opportunity to see you are not alone out there You are welcome to bring someone with you or if you want to come on  your own it's fine.

Email me if you want to talk or know more & also if you could let me know if you are coming or thinking of coming just for numbers so we know.

Look forward to hearing from you &hopefully meeting you in September if anyone else you know from the Churchill wants to come that is fine.

This should be a good meeting & we meet every 3-4 months.

Will wait to hear from you

Best wishes

Carol

Hi, My husband Malcolm - cml sufferer, would possibly like to attend this meeting, please could you advise us as we live in Tamworth, Staffs on how to get to it. He would probably travel by train from Bham New St, what station would he need to get to in London? would he then get the tube and how far is it to Hammersmith hospital from the tube etc...? so that I can work out times and plan the journey.

Many thanks

Louise

Hi All,

Eight of us are travelling from Leeds on the Saturday morning, four patients and partners. I attended a Hammersmith meeting when first diagnosed as i felt i was not getting the correct care, and got pointed in the right direction.

We look forward to meeting everyone. One couple may be running slightly late on the day. We shall be getting off the train at Kings Cross, then getting the tube through to east acton. This is the nearest tube station to HH as far as i am aware.

Take care.

Chris.

Hi Louise,

Assuming that the train would arrive in Euston you have two options from there.

1. Get off the train and follow the signs to the underground. Take the Victoria Line (Blue) to Oxford Circus. Change on to the Central Line (Red) to East Acton. From here it is around 10 mins walk to the hospital (and from what I remember there are signs that help you along the way)

2. Alternatively, do exactly the same as above, but get off one stop earlier at White City.  Come out of the station and cross the road where there is a bus stop.  Several buses from here stop directly outside the hospital so there's less walking needed.

I'd allow in the region of 30-45 mins to do the journey from Euston.

You can get a Zone 1-2 Day Travelcard for £6.60 which will cover you for the underground and buses, or just buy a combination of single tickets.

You can find helpful route information at www.tfl.gov.uk which covers the tube and bus routes.

All the best

Bhiru

Hi Louise ,

It would be lovely to see you & Malcolm at our Patient/Carer meeting on the 17th Sept if you want to email me I can give you details & directions as to where to find us when you get to Hammersmith. Also the nearest train station for you to Hammersmith is East Acton but if you are coming into to Euston you can also take a bus that will stop at the front of the hospital. If you can let us know if you are going to attend as we need to know numbers for the meeting.

Elizabeth & I look forward to meeting you & Malcolm on the 17th Sept if you email me at steven.carol@ntlworld.com I can give you all the directions to Hammersmith the best way for you to get there & also where to find us as if you haven't been to Hammersmith before the Haematology Dept is tucked away at the back of the hospital! Easy to find when you know where you are going! Look forward to hearing from you then can give you all the details you need.

As I said when you email me can you just let us know if you are going to come to the meeting.  Sure you will find the meeting very interesting as well as meeting other CML patients & thier carers/partners we also have Dragana Milojkovic speaking who is one of the Senior Consultants at Hammersmith who will answer any of your questions you may have.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Best Wishes

Carol

Hello Emma,

I live in Buckingham, & go to the meetings at the Hammersmith. If you would like a lift to the meeting please contact me at bobosbo@hotmail.co.uk & we can sort it out.

Bob

Hi Emma,

It was good to hear from you. It is no problem to pencil you in a place at the meeting on the 17th Sept & if you can let me know nearer the time if you are able to come.

Would be really nice if you could make it as I am sure you find the meeting really helpful as well as meeting other CML patients which really helps a lot when you meet others in the same situation as yourself.

As Bob says he lives in Buckingham is a regular at our meetings so if you do come to the meeting if you get in touch with Bob he could give you a lift which might make things easier for you.

Thanks Bob for offering to be the Buckingham Transport service!

Hello,

I would just like to thank all concerned on our recent visit to the Hammersmith Support group.

Me & Tammy, Sharon & Dave, Frank & Sandra and Julie & Andrew were all made exceptionally welcome to London, We all got something from the talk and general conversations from Dragana. And at the same time met some new friends with CML and their partners too.

It was well worth the trip down from Leeds. We shall all be leaving feedback at our next Yorkshire support group meeting on 3rd of October.  Everyone is welcome to this meeting at Leeds, we shall have Dr G Smith in attendance.

If anyone would like the address to this meeting it is available at www.cmlyorkshire.webs.com

Some of us are going to try and make the January meeting to Hammersmith depending on work etc.

Once again, Thank you.

Chris.
