Dastanib (sprycel}
Hi David,
might be an idea to ask for a check on your lung function. one of the more serious though less common side effects of dasatinib is pleural effusion. If you are worried, best get that checked out.

Hi David,
I've been on Dasatinib since June 2010 and I'm often short of breath when exercising. I mentioned it to my Haemotologist and she first checked for pleural effusion with an X ray. As everything was fine she suggested I was not in the best of shape. Ha Ha I had to agree.
I've since got back into running ( something I did a lot of some years ago) but still get breathless for the first 10 - 20 mins. After that I seem to be fine. Its the same when walking the dog. 10 - 20 mins puffing and panting then fine. I've been putting it down to my age (52)
I notice my Haemoglobin count is consistently low. I dont know if that has any bearing on it or not.
for me it has been the opposite I had trouble exercising on imatanib for more than 20mins, but since moving to dastanib I have been able to exercise harder and for longer...(am 42 and for the first time in my life I am regualry running 10k 2-3 times a week), although not quite so much in the cold :)
Just goes to show how different people react differently to the same drugs
