Annual Travel Insurance

Hi, just wondered if anyone has got annual cover for travel insurance?
Kind regards
Angela

Hi Angela,

I found travel insurance which covers CML to be prohibitively expensive. I have an annual policy which excludes pre-existing conditions. I am prepared to run the risk as CML is typically a slow moving disease.

I guess the risk comes if you are hospitalised for something else and CML subsequently requires attention because of that. I always travel with spare tasigna and have people who can FedEx me some in emergency.

I found that Medici did a good annual travel policy but you would need to work out how much you travel to see if it is worth it. Very often the closer to the date you get it the cheaper it is. I did only get a quote for Europe though so world wide may be more of an issue.

I seem to be one of the lucky ones - my policy covers me for CML, because I took it out before I was diagnosed. They say as long as I keep renewing the policy I will continue to be covered.

Hi Angela
I recently took out an annual policy with Medici with an endorsement on my CML and a minor condition for my wife.

To cover the both of us and our one year old son, its was £133 per year.

Pretty good value in my opinion.

It is prohibitively expensive, so I'm also travelling without cover for CML. my advice to people who think they have cover, is be very careful. If you answer no to "are you on chemotherapy" , then you are on dodgy ground. My research on this tells me that these drugs are classed as chemotherapy. Certain insurers also tell me they are.

I will phone them and see what they come up with :)
