Post from MDeRosia re: bosutinib and TKI intolerance

I have reposted this from a previous string owing to the fact that it was tagged on to a post by Ali Lorem. Given that Ali was not able to tolerate TKI therapy (although she did respond clinically). Ali suffered from severe side effects after her transplant and tragically she died from complications of severe GVHD earlier this year. Given this background, I thought it inappropriate to leave this latest post tagged to one of the last discussion threads we had with Ali and have therefore reposted it here in a new discussion thread.

First 3 I could not tolerate.........liver, then pleural effusion, then liver. Today I start Bosutinib.......will see. I feel my body has told them enough what it will or will not tolerate. Based on the cost of these drugs, and the side effects - I wonder if it would not be better to just track the CML and manage those side effects until the bitter end.

It sounds as though you are having a hard time at the moment but the reality is that without these drugs our life expectancy is not great. I have been on four previous TKI's and had problems in one way or another with all of them and i started on Bosutinib just over a month ago. So far the side effects have been minimal and i am hoping they stay that way, maybe you will find that this is the one that suits you and you feel you can live with it?
