After 3 month on TASIGNA

Hello, I wrote 4 months ago about my new life with CML on this forum (thank you for your support). I was diagnosed in mid-august this year to have CML, a sickness I never heard of. 38 years old woman with two small children, I was shocked and confused about my future life. I just started a new job one month before the diagnoses, so I didn’t even stop working one day since I found out. I was put on Tasigna from the start and after one very painful week, my doctor lowered my dose and the pain slowly went away. I started taking 600 mg again and today I have almost no side effect anymore. I started to get used to the way of taking the drugs and it is becoming part of my life. Today, I met my doctor and my 3 month results show that, I’m on hematologic remission (since almost 3 week after the start of the treatment), my bone marrow showed 0 cells out of 20 (20 out of 20 last test 3 month before) and my PCR is at 0,044%. I’m very happy about these results and wanted to share this with you, especially for the new diagnosed ones that worry what could happen in the next few months. I’m still worried about my health and the future, but it seems not too bad at all…

Thanks so much for updating us all about your experience. Your story will certainly help any newly diagnosed patient have confidence in this kind of therapy.

Your response to nilotinib is certainly one anyone would hope for. You, your family and even your doctor must be very heartened by this. Such a low percentage of BCR/ABl
(0.044%) at 3mths would be considered more than optimal by the current (2013) European Leukaemia Net recommendations as well as the updated NCCN (US) Guidelines.

Congratulations and best wishes,
Sandy

Just wanted to say that is an excellent result and you should be really pleased. Hopefully it will continue that way and you may (in the future) get to stop taking it all together
