Five years ago this month i started taking Glivec. Today i had my checkup and the result was 0.0001. In September last year it was 0.0003.
They didn't hassle me for a bone marrow test which is a first!
I asked about the trials for stopping the treatment but couldn't speak to the consultant today. I'll have to make an appointment to discuss it with him.
You are here
Today is a good day
Fantastic news- looks like you as low as it gets! Good luck for applying for a stopping trial, I assume DESTINY?
Just to warn you, the trial requirement is that you agree to a bmb at the start and again at the finish- however, I have been assured that trial sites should be flexible about offering sedation to those who ask... so if you get there make sure you ask! Where are you treated?

Hi Sandy,
It's been a long time. I hope you're keeping well.
Yes i read about the BMB bit. Grrr not happy but a little pain with lots of gain would be worth it.
I go to the North Middx Hospital in London. I think it will be Destiny. I've heard it mentioned before by a previous consultant. The registar i saw today mentioned something about new cancer patients being sent to other hospitals such as UCH or Hammersmith. It was something about centralising and no doubt cost cutting.
Yes i said i wouldn't do another BMB without a little extra something. 10ml of liquid morphine did it for me last time. The discomfort vanished by a good 80-90%. It was a lovely buzz that took me back to my old clubbing days. :)
