Hi all 2 months since diagnosis and my heamological is now back to normal. The doctor said this was very quick. However my question is that, does this suggest that the medication is working? I'm anxiously waiting for my pcr testing on Christmas eve, I hope it will be a good one with positive results.

Hi,
the quick answer is yes, your medication is obviously working. You should expect to see your blood cell counts return to normal within the first 6- 8 weeks, then it is likely that you will see a further response shown by a drop in PH+ cells present in your marrow. Cytogenetic/FISH testing should show this reduction- and if it is a significant drop then PCR result will be the test you will be monitored with.
Good luck for your PCR result on xmas eve!

Congradulations, you reached normal blood count in just 2 months time. That shows the drug is working well for you. I too was dx not long ago (3 months). Just want to share my experience with you. For me Glivic 400mg seems to be too strong that it almost wiped out my WBC (1.7) and platelets (40)in two months time. I have to stop for one week and now on 300mg daily. Sometimes the drug may over perform, and I think it is important to have the blood test done weekly/fornightly. All the best to your next PCR result.
