I sent the links one of you posted to an oncologist Ph.D. researcher friend of mine. He wrote back,
"suppressor cells are a clear issue in mice and have no discernible effect in human tumors.
Natural Killer cells (NK) were the first cells thought to capable of being harnessed to treat tumors, (termed Lymphokine Activated Killers) or LAK. My grade school boss came up with the idea. This has been worked on for 25 years to no avail.
While this group looks to be moving forward clinically it’s always useful to recall that work war on cancer was declared in July of 1971.
It’s not an easy disease to treat."
So - my take away is we march on .... getting closer and indeed saving lives. But alas - no magic bullet.
