Good morning, I've been taking Sprycel 140mg since July 28, 2018. I've been trying to find out if Sprycel contains steriod(s) ?
You are here
Sprycel
Sprycel is not a steroid. Sprycel contains only sprycel which is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor.
Sprycell contains the following active ingredient dasatinib monohydrate plus the following excipients:
List of excipients
Tablet core
Lactose monohydrate
Microcrystalline cellulose
Croscarmellose sodium
Hydroxypropylcellulose
Magnesium stearate
Film-coating
Hypromellose
Titanium dioxide (E171)
Macrogol 400
You would need to Google for each excipient separately to find out what it does. For instance, I have discovered that Macrogol is a laxative.
Macrogol is indeed a laxative ... but I suspect it’s in the coating for Sprycel for other reasons.
Have you ever taken a sachet or two of Movicol? That’s like 95% Macrogol - more than 13g of it in each sachet. There must be an absolute minuscule amount of it in the Sprycel coating.
David.
