Advice on stopping Dasatinib (Sprycel)

Dear All,

My boyfriend has been diagnosed wth CML in 2013. He commenced on Sprycel, which he's still taking to this day (100 mcg) and even made his CML non-detectable. Now, his BCR-ABL levels are beginning to rise again since March. His currrent levels are around 0.0069 %.

This week, he's undergoing surgery, so one hematologist recommended him to stop taking Sprycel for about 8 days, because it will most likely affect his wound healing. Another hematolgist said that he should stop taking Sprycel under no circumstances.

Also, he has been suffering from breathing difficulties (probably pleural effusions), which are most likely due to the side effects of Sprycel.

Has anybody had a similar situation?

Thanks in advance, any advice is really appreciated :)

I do think that TKIs affect the skin and its healing.  Since you have two opinions from the doctors, I'd go with the one that seemed best to me.

I take 20 mg Sprycel per day and my BCR-ABL1 score has been the same as his for a year now.
