Hi all!
From time to time I have a fear that makes my life difficult and stressful.... Every time I have to take my pill( I take sprycel) I wipe my hands several times because I am afraid that maybe my hand has a little bit of water and the pills go bad(don t work).I am unditected 2.5 years now and I don't want to lose it... I now that I have OCD .this thought is not so strong all the time but some times is very difficult and causes me lot of anxiety.... Does anyone the stability of the drug with humidity?

Does anyone has this fear?

I am going to take a wild guess here and go with my intuition that this is a displaced fear and is a stand-in for a more hidden fear - one that I think we all do share and that is: this is cancer and I am afraid of the future. Period. A therapist might help you deal with it. Or maybe just knowing this will make the OCD thing go away.
I ve done psychotherapy for 2 years and this is why I can live without intidepressants! But sometimes it is to difficult to get over it... This is the reason I am writing here because maybe some knows if this happens is it a problem or not...
Thanks for your response Kat 73... !And of course there is a deeper fear that causes all this anxiety....
Don't know if this will make you feel better, but a couple of times I have accidentally taken a second Sprycel, realized my mistake and immediately spit it out - and SAVED it! LOL. No apparent harm done. I've also had water on my hands from brushing my teeth. And, finally, I keep the Sprycel in the medicine cabinet IN THE BATHROOM with two people taking daily showers. So, I'm very, very, very bad. And yet, the stuff seems to work just fine and I retain 0.006% IS. Hope that helps.
Kat73 the pills are all in like a small plastic bottle? There are not seperated?? Sorry if I am getting annoying(or redicioulous. π) ....??Mine are all in one small plastic bottle.. I don't t know if they use the same bottle to all countries that's why I am asking

If you drink - drink scotch and/or wine and you will be fine.
If you don't drink - then take deep breaths and then you will be fine.
You are in a great place ("undetected"). CML will never NEVER EVER get you.
The pills - pop one in every day. If it falls on the floor, clean it with tissue and take it.
These pills are very very stable.
Yes, mine are always (and have always been) loose in a plastic bottle with a child-proof cap. I truly think the admonition about not storing them in a humid environment is boiler-plate pharmacy language (and rear-end covering language for the drug company). They say that about all pills. The thing is, I'd bet that problems only occur when you have 1000 pills stored for many, many months - if not years - and most of us run through 90 pills in 90 days. No real time there for any destabilization or deterioration. And if you have water on your hands, so what? Like there's no liquid in your mouth and insides? Just lick your fingers! Please stop worrying! At least about this.
This seems like a very specific and narrow and therefore EASY problem to fix. Your concern about actually introducing an appreciable amount of water into the pill container is legitimate. However, it is very easy - and NOT OCD - to simply pat your fingers quickly and only once on any available cloth surface before retrieving your pill. Another solution: take the pill when and where you already do not/cannot have water on your hand. (PLEASE tell me you do NOT make a point of washing your hands before you take your pill!!!! NOT necessary!)
