Nilonotib twice daily

Why if Nilonotib is more effective than Imatinib is it required twice daily?

i have been looking for information online and as of yet haven’t seen the reasoning for it.

regards

Hi Mick E, I’ve been on Nilotinib just over 4 years on 400 mg twice a day (800 mg) I’ve mentioned this before on Cml Support before and was surprised that a lot of people are on similar dosage, I’m sure you’ll get the medical reasoning behind it but the most important reason I believe in, is it works.

I’m sure if you were interested enough you could locate the data on the pharmacokinetics of Nilotinib.  Dose frequency is not a measure of effectiveness.  The dose will be determined to provide ‘sufficient’ concentration of drug in the body which will vary from drug to drug depending on how the drug is metabolised.  This is a very basic answer but fundamentally it goes to the point about frequency of dose not being a measure of drug efficacy.

I’ve never even heard of the term “pharmacokinetics”!  I will also have to Google that!

thanks for the reply
