night sweats

Categories:

I have been in remission, thanks to Gleevec, for over 5 years.  I frequently have very severe night sweats.  Is this a common side effect?

Hi vivbow, I like you was diagnosed 5 years ago and at the start was on Imatinib and could nearly set my clock every night that I would have a severe night sweat, so bad that 2 pair of pjs during the night was normal, but this was  at the very beginning and it happened for  no longer than 2 months, since then, touch wood, no more night sweats. thank you.  No one seems to understand reason for my night sweats.  I am very definitely post menopausal so that is no reason.  I will continue to research.

I, too, am certainly post-menopausal, and have been on imatinib for over ten years now (I never thought I'd be able to say that!).  I get night sweats from time to time, not every night, and not overwhelming.  I assume that it's just something, like cramps, that we have to put up with as a reward for still being here.

vivbow. after five years of remission, hopefully you have reduced your dosage.

Olivia,

thank you.  Ive just been living with it, like cramps and edema, and accepting but just thought since I'm new to the Forum that I would check and see if anyone else has this issue.  Yes, to being alive!!!!

Happy New Year

I have.  4 pills every other day is keeping me n remission.  Tried to go off a year ago but it wasn't successful.  So I accept my good fortune that this medicine works for me

vivbow, 200mg/day would be easier on your system.

hmmm.  I'll check in with my doctor about that.  Thanks for the suggestion.
