Update on treatment-free remission – Perspectives from a physician and a patient representative

Professor Timothy Hughes, SAHMRI/University of Adelaide (Australia)
Giora Sharf, Co-Founder of CML Advocates Network and CML patient, Netanyah (Israel)

Professor Hughes will provide a summary of guidelines on treatment-free remission and discuss how they can guide routine clinical practice by providing a balanced assessment of the potential risks and benefits of stopping therapy. He will also talk about potential predictors of outcomes after TKI discontinuation and strategies to enable more patients to achieve TFR.

Giora Sharf will provide insights into the patients’ perspective on TFR and discuss information gaps for patients and areas of unmet need. A survey conduced by the CML Advocates Network provides insights into patient’s reasons for discontinuation, topics they discuss with their doctors and into their experiences on the TFR journey.
It also reveals aspects of the emotional impact on treatment-free remission and psychological issues in all phases of TFR.
