Imatinib & Citrus Fruits interaction

Hi,

Can anyone please let me know if we can take sweet lime juice while taking Imatinib?

What are we talking here? A wedge of lime in a gin & tonic, or 200ml of lime juice (which I can’t imagine anyone can stomach!)

It is one glass (approx 250 ml) on every alternate day.

So I would normally say lime juice isn’t an issue because it’s interaction with medication is moderate compared to grapefruit juice (link below states about 1/4 as “potent”), and usually lime is consumed in small quantities. 

However 250ml of lime juice is quite a lot - so I’d be cautious and ask your hospital pharmacist.

It is actually sweet lemon juice which is also called Citrus limetta.
