Thinning hair

Categories:

I’ve been on 400 mg of Gleevec for 4 years. Usual side effects which vary in intensity. Now hair above my forehead is thinning and coarse. Any suggestions for what products work?

I hope someone replies as I, too, am experiencing the exact same condition. I have been on Gleevec for one year. I am also losing eyelashes on the outer corners of my lids. I am wondering if I might be able to use the new eyelash growth products.

Hair loss may be due to your thyroid not producing the optimal amount of thyroid (T3) hormone.. this can happen for many reasons but can be brought on by prolonged stress/anxiety. If possible you could try to get your thyroid checked (although it can be a challenge to get your T3 evaluated depending on the endocrinologist) OR you can check yourself by taking your basal body temp. in the morning before you get out of bed.

If it is under normal temp then you could well have issues with low thyroid. You can take supplemental iodine and see if that works over time, and/or supplement with essential amino acids to support your adrenal function - thyroid and adrenal glands are in a connected loop.

Sandy,

Could the values of T4 and TSH be normal, while those of T3 not ?? Because my doctor has only checked my T4 and TSH.

Thanks
