Hi every one!
I accidentally read an old post (i wish I had not) and then some old studies that cml patients have about 30% more chances for secondary cancers. Is anyone a were of this?

Are we in higher risk for secondary cancer?

I have read that those that suffer from Cancer are upto x4 times more susceptible to get another Cancer. I can’t remember the source.
But I prefer to live in the now and at the moment that’s one of them as far as I know. Hopefully we only have to endure this, if we don’t no doubt CML will really be the least of our concerns. I’ve often wondered about this but prefer to put it out of my mind. I did read they Hydroxy (that a lot of us took in early stages) can cause secondary cancers too. Oh the joys of life lol.
I have googled and have found that the data presented are inconsistent. The lists of the most predominant second cancers vary from report to report. I find it unclear whether the increase in second cancers is caused by the disposition of having CML or whether the second cancers are caused by TKIs. I do wonder whether patients attending regular haematology or oncology sessions are more likely to have cancers discovered.
