National Cancer Covid 19 Survey

Categories:

Hi All in UK,

This overlaps with a previous posting re attempts to find a way to get an antibody test undertaken by government or as a part of a research project.

My topic here is has anyone registered with the National Cancer Covid 19 Survey  (NCC19S) and actually received a testing kit?

If one goes into the NCC19S site and ticks the relevant boxes one will be referred on to the government website to register and request an antibody testing kit. There seem to be a number of priority groups such as NHS and other healthcare staff and possibly 4 or 5 approved research projects such as ZOE etc.Under the prompt are you part of a national survey or research project one can tick National Cancer Covid 19 Survey;one can  then enter  a reference number if  applicable e.g. from blood cancer projects. However without a reference number one can still proceed to completion of the questions /data required .Then one goes into a pot it seems to be considered as to whether you fit the criteria and whether you qualify to receive a kit within the coming weeks.

I just wonder if there is a better chance of winning with Lotto than actually qualifying to receive a testing kit?

Regards

John

Hi John,

I have tried to get the kit sent out. I followed the instructions you have outlined (the Blood Cancer UK site )

you tick the box its for the cancer survey.

They sent a link to my mobile which included a 16 digit code asking you not to delete until you have your

kit

Once completed and it sent me across to the government site re the kit the reply is unfortunately there is

a problem with the government link we will get back to you.

I was asked by the 119 who knew nothing about it to re apply which I did and nothing.

Hi Patch,

I have just received a text with a code asking me to order an antibody test kit from a gov.uk site;I have no idea how the algorithm or selection procedure works .

When ordering the kit  the site asked for date of second vaccination and there was no facility to enter the third primary dose date or booster date-so I am not quite sure how good, accurate or up to date  their final aggregated data will be.

Have you been able to enter again your details to register with success or not?

Has anyone else in UK  been able to register or got to the second stage of being  been asked to order a kit?

Regards

John

Hi

I got an 'invite' to register for the antibody test from Leukaemia Care. This was in the middle of September. I was interested to know my antibodies so duly registered. About 2 weeks ago I received the text to request the kit and I did so.

It all worked for me. The kit came, I did the test and I'm just waiting for the results.

Susan

Thanks Susan,

It would be interesting to post your results here when these come to you :also your vaccine status -that is what/when was your last jab and whether it was third primary dose etc

John

Hi John

I also registered for the survey and the kit arrived 10 days ago. I took the test the day before my 3rd primary jab. My second dose was on April the 14th this year having had the AZ Oxford vaccine on the first two.
The results came in an e mail but as you can see below it is more of a statement rather than any data or analysis of the sample.

Thank you for doing a coronavirus (COVID-19) antibody test.

Antibodies were found in your blood sample.

This means it’s likely you’ve had COVID-19 in the last 6 months, or had the vaccine.

This result does not guarantee you are fully immune (protected) from COVID-19. It’s still possible to get the virus again or spread it, although your risk is reduced if you’ve had the vaccine or already been infected.

It’s important to keep following COVID-19 advice.

If you took this test because you tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 2 weeks, it’s unlikely the antibodies detected are from your recent infection. They’re more likely to be from a previous infection or the vaccination.

Hi

Just to say that I received my results today. It was rather an anticlimax as all it says is that I have antibodies. No number or anything useful. I had my 3rd jab over a month ago. I am currently on a very dose of Ponatinib.

I had my second jab in early January and I did have an antibody test back in April (at the hospital) and I was given a level - at the time we weren't sure if it was good or bad but it turns out it was fairly low. I was not on any CML treatment at the time.

It would have so nice to have been given a number though of course we don't know how long or effective the antibodies are.
