- Several studies have shown that magnesium is able to cross through the skin and into the body’s tissues and circulation
- Topical magnesium solutions and Epsom salt baths may be a way to boost magnesium levels, especially for those who are sensitive to supplementation
- One way to see how topical magnesium or Epsom salt baths work for you is to add the whole blood magnesium measurement to your GrassrootsHealth test kit and test before and after changing your magnesium supplement (and bath!) routine

Hi Sandy
Many tkis seem to have side effects of night cramps as well as other unpleasant musculo skeletal effects such as myositis and inflammation of the muscles and so on.I have tried spray on topical magnesium but one needs to persevere over a long period of time I have found.
Regarding the dosing by magnesium capsules what is the suggested level per day -50 ,100 or 200 mg per day ?
Regards
John
Hi John,
Yes I agree magnesium supplementation can take a long time to have an effect (especially if your'e being treated with TKIs). I would not worry too much about the dose- I take magnesium in citrate form (powder in water) which seems to be more readily absorbed.
I also take 1026mg of Mag L-Threonate (two caps per day).

John,
Topical magnesium won't have the impact as magnesium absorbed in the gut direct into your bloodstream. I eliminated my muscle cramping (mostly legs at night) within 12 hours once I started supplementing with 400-500 mg magnesium (taurate or citrate is fine. Avoid oxide) per day split in two doses. Once I started my supplementation, my cramps disappeared that night. And I sleep better.
