Treatment Free Remission (TFR) Update

Just thought I would report on my continuing Treatment Free Remission (TFR)  journey.

In March 2021, I stopped all TKI treatment for CML. At that time I was "undetected" while taking 20 mg dasatinib every other day for 3 years.

In March 2021, I stopped dasatinib. During the next year and a half up to today 18 months later, I remain "undetected" without drug. I just received my latest test result this morning.

I test every six months. If I remain "undetected" next March 2023, I will change to an annual PCR check-up.

Although my confidence that I have beaten CML is high  (i.e. either no more CML stem cells or my immune system takes care of it naturally), I will continue my new protocol involving vitamin D, K2, magnesium, selenium, quercetin and Curcumin as a safeguard going forward.

That is great news.  I don't think I would be comfortable with annual check ups personally but it looks like things are looking great for you.  Congrats!

Scuba, you are an inspiration to us all!  Hoping to follow in your footsteps!  Except for the diving.  I'll stay high on the mountains, you stay low in the ocean and we'll have it covered.

You should try breathing under water! You don't know until you try it.

Congratulations.....

you are an inspiration to all cmlsupport group members....

600 to 400 ( 2 month 00 dose 1 month 400 1 month 600 )

PCR report UNDETACTABLE.......

If next report also UNDETACTABLE dose reduce 400 to 300. (current 400 imtanib dose countinue.... (Slowly.... reduce countinue...)

Last 10 and half year all reports UNDETACTABLE.....( I avoid tfr only fear factor.....try in future....)

Best of luck and best wishes...for TFR....
👍👍👍

Absolutely fantastic news Scuba.

I used to say I had no interest in trying TFR however the longer I have CML under control the more confident I seem to get. Maybe one day.

All the best mate.

Great news, Scuba!  Thanks for the update, you really could not wish for better outcome.

My consultant suggested TFR, as I have been undetected for 3 yrs, (40 then 20 mg dasatinib), but to tell you the truth, I am hesitant.

Next appointment mid October, and if my latest PCR is still 'undetected', I will suggest to go with 20mg every other day. (Sprycel also comes in 10mg/mL powder for oral suspension, but it looks like way too much bother to deal with on a daily basis). Nothing can beat one tiny pill, down the hatch, once a day, done.

Again, thank you for your updates, and for the valuable information and advice you offer to us here.

All the best,

pigeon.

That’s awesome Scuba! Was wondering if you went TFR as last I heard from you,you were still considering, Am hoping do the same in March 2023,will be 3 years undetectable but still unsure whether should continue treatment for bit longer. Thanks for all yr advice and help over time.
