So, this began back in March. I was helping my dad fix rotten boards on his deck. It was hot, I was sloppy, and I ended up stepping on a 3 inch screw coffee in rust and east Texas mud. It got infected. They got that under control with antibiotics, and the next Monday while turning to walk to my car after work I hear a loud POP! Then I'm on the ground, can't move my leg, i thought Ihad been shot. What actually happened was I ruptured my Achilles tendon. So, my Dr checked my white blood cells, and saw they were high. The number was 1400. So the Dr went Back a couple years, and notice that my white blood cells have been high for awhile. So, now I'm over the leg thing and I guess heading into cancer treatment. Or, find out where I am as far as the cancer gos. It's been a week or two, but I am still not freaking out. Just wanted to say it as much as possible and see what happens. Don't know what I expect though.
You are here
Just diagnosed with CML.
So you have been officially diagnosed with CML ? ( done your bone marrow biopsy ? )
What meds are you on at the moment ?
Your doctor can easily send a sample of your peripheral blood for a leukemia test. High white cell count on its own, especially when just above the normal range is not indicative of anything except maybe infection (which you had from the rusty nail).\
Unless there is more information to share, routine screening can be done locally before visiting a major cancer center.
