muscle pain

Hi
just a quick query - I have been on Glivec since Jan 05, doing well. When I first started taking it, I had the usual muscle cramps/aches, but this eased off after a month or so. However in the last couple of weeks, I am noticing a returning of a similar type of pain, just in my legs (calf/thigh muscles) It is the same deep, bone aching sort of feeling that I remember having initially. Is there any reason for this, or has anyone else experienced 'returning' symptoms? Thanks,
Anna

Dear all
I have been taking glivec now since 2002, and have been on remission for the last three years, but incresingly over the last month or two have been getting a real aching pain in my feet, like bad tooth ache, which is there all the time even while in bed,and the tiredness, and breathlessness seem worse, leg aches and some pain in the hands too.
I don't like to complain as I know I am so lucky to have been well for so long. any ideas folks??
best wishes to all Cynthia P

My muscles ache and also am getting bone pain but as you say everything else is good so try not to moan too much. I have been on glivec since 2002 the tiredness comes and goes but I have found out that I can work for three short days a week and no more else I'm too tired to enjoy my days off. But as my pcr is at zero I'll just keep on with the pills. Can't think of any reason why the aches come and go but they do.

Hi Cynthia

Just to say that I have been on glivec and BMS and had terrible pains in my feet. It started slowly on the glivec and the pain was in the soles of my feet and only really painful when I first got out of bed. When I changed to BMS it got much worse and my feet pretty much hurt most of the time. I just kept really wanting to stretch out my feet. Anti-inflammatories did not help but a short course of steriods proved the point that it was inflammation. When I stopped BMS it took 4 months for my feet not to hurt. I am back on glivec again(long and complicated story) and the pain is back both in the soles of my feet and on the top front of my feet.
I also get pain in the hands especially when I wake up in the morning I just need to stretch out my hands.
I also get breathless at times.........both on the glivec and especially the BMS.
Sorry I can't suggest anything that has worked for me to alleviate the problems but I guess that it helps to know that other people have the same issues.
regards
Susan

thank you so much Susan for your input, it helps that one is not alone in having the same reactions. we must keep an overview I suppose on the fact that we are really doing so well, these things also seem to come and go, at the moment the pain in my feet has receded a bit, I found that bathing them in an Epsom salt bath really helped, about a big tablespoon in a basin of warm water.
All the very best.

Dear Yvonne,
Thanks for your reply, looks like we were both diagnosed at the same time!
Try the Epsom salts, as I mentioned to Susan, Yes, seems Cramps, eye bleeds, muscle pain all seem to take turns! but we were just soooooo lucky to have Glivec,
good luck Cynthia P
