Pregnancy (I hope)

Hi

I am new to this support group and was hoping to gain as much information as possible regarding pregnancy and cml.

I am 25 and was diagnosed in March 2004. My PCR result is very good at the moment (0.015) and is probably the best it will be. I currently take 400mg of Glivec a day.

My husband and I have been told that this is probably the best “window” we are going to get should we wish to have a family, which we do.

My consultant said there is little data available on pregnancy and cml and doesn’t really know how long I would need to be off Glivec, what alternatives there are during pregnancy and treatment following pregnancy.

If any one has any information, knows of any useful web-sites or has any data it would be gratefully received.

Really glad I found this site – its nice to know I am not alone!!

Take care,

Hi Clare did anyone get back to you with any info? I am having the same problem obtaining any info on taking a brake from Gleevec in order to try for a baby. I was diagnosed 19 months ago while 12 weeks pregnant with my son who was born healthy 12 months ago. we would however have liked a little brother or sisiter for him. My consultant is however not keen on the idea and keeps mentioning the possibility of resistance developing if I take a break from Gleevec? Please let me know how you are getting on and any info.
Good Luck
Denise

Hi, I am 30 and was diagnossed with CML in November last year. At the time we were hoping to try for another baby but my specialist said it would be too risky. After months of trying to push this at the back of my mind I find it hard to stop wanting another baby. I really do not want to give up on this. I know there is some hope somewhere. I did find the blog on glamour very useful thanks.
