Elevated mcv

I wonder if anyone's had problems with elevated mcv (mean corpuscular volume)?
This relates to the size of the red blood cells, and can be elevated for a number of reasons - just wondered if anyone else has had this mentioned.Waiting for results of folic acid and
In cml we seem to concentrate on white cells and platelets, I'd be interested to know if anyone has any comments,
many thanks
Paul

Dear Paul,
if it's of any help, my red cells have been "obese" as my Dr calls them since starting Glivec, they were upto 120 at one point, I take Lederfoline (a folic acid supplement) & this keeps them at around 110, apparently this often happens in Glivec patients & it's nothing to worry about,

Hi Paul,
Yes Ted had these "obese" red cells at one point. We laughed when Barbara called them that! They checked out his B12 and folic acid levels - but all ok, so put it down to Glivec. Nobody's mentioned them for about a year, so guess they've been on a diet.....

Thanks for the comments, noticed I'd left a bit out on my original posting - B12, Folate, and Thyroid function all being done, as all can contribute to elevated mcv.
Interesting to see others have experienced the same sort of effects of Glivec.
