Cell Harvest

Had my usual appointment at the Hammersmith on Monday and my PCR had moved from 0.14 to 0.13.. This is only a psychological move according to the doctors but for me it’s a step in the right direction. Had planed to have a BMB and a harvest on the 27th and 28th December but due to an error I was down for the BMB with sedation on Monday.
This was a dilemma. Carol still can’t drive due to the fact that she is still recovering from her spinal operation and I drove to the HH. I took the bull by the horns I had it without sedation. The whole thing took less than 10 minuets from start to finish. The Doctor was very very good indeed.

Today I started giving myself the GCSF injections. I need 3 every morning due to my weight and that they want to harvest about 226 million cells from me on Wednesday and Thursday.

If your not doing anything we would be glad of some company as I believe they are quite quiet next week and I am the only harvest that week as well.

Carol and I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a healthy and happy new year.

Regards

Steven and Carol.

good luck with your harvest steven, hope you are not too bored! best wishes to carol for a complete recovery.

I am sure it will go well but it is very boring and uncomfortable because you can't move very much while you are connected to the machine. Val found a CD player, with me on hand to change the CDs, very useful to break the monotony of the day. Maybe if you are on your own there, they could put the TV on for you. Good luck with it all.

Sorry we won't be at the HH for a chat on the days you go in.

Val goes in to the HH on 26 and 27 February for a repeat harvest (the first one didn't produce enough cells), so like you we have the GCSF ready in the fridge! This time, she is coming off Glivec for three weeks in advance of the harvest to encourage a greater number of cells for harvesting. I will be on hand with the CD player.... Anyone who is there on those two days is welcome to pop in to the day unit for a chat.

Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year to everyone.

David

Dear Steve,
just to wish you all the best for your cell harvest, sorry I've not been in touch recently, but have been having a few problems here recently with Thomas & then I got bronchitis followed by a stomach bug.
All the best for Christmas & the coming year - I bet that you & Carol will be glad to see the back of 2006!
I hope that Carol's finally feeling a bit better
love from Barbara

Dear Steve

Hope all goes well with the harvest next week and send our best wishes to Carol. She's had a rough time of late.

Best wishes as always

Parmjit
P.S I will try and get Max to update his site soon, but he has been quite busy with late effect follow-up appointments. On the whole though, he's doing well and we have enjoyed a family Christmas and look forward to the New Year.
