Monocytes

Just a quick question,
has anyone else ever had increased monocytes?
Mine came back at 13% yesterday & me being me (a born worrier) has done some research on Internet & come up with T8 & increased monocytes & increased MVC = MDS.
I know I'm probably being stupid, I think that we all tend to imagine the worse with our CML, so I'm looking for someone else who's had the same thing,
thanks Barbara
PS I've been coughing for about a month now - maybe this could explain everything?

hi barbara,
i checked my white cell differential over the last 10 months or so and find that my monocytes range from a low of 8% to a high of 13%. i did a quick search on normal blood values and found 6% to be an average normal figure. it is more than likely that your raised levels are to do with you having an infection given the job monocytes do... see below

'Monocytes share the "vacuum cleaner" (phagocytosis) function of neutrophils, but are much longer lived as they have an additional role: they present pieces of pathogens to T cells so that the pathogens may be recognised again and killed, or so that an antibody response may be mounted.'
