Message from David Cornes
Dear All
This is just to let you know that I spoke today about the CML Support Group to the ladies section of Stowe Golf Club, where Val is a member and where the Lady Captain has chosen CML Support as her charity for her year as captain. I made it a very personal story and, unusually for me because I am used to speaking, I found it quite an emotional talk to give. Anyway, it went well and because everyone there knows Val, the CML Support Group feels much closer to the members than the big charities they have supported in previous years. I would expect they will raise somewhere under £1,000 for CML Support Group by the end of 2007.
The Lady Captain gave me a copy of the Daily Telegraph for 18 January, which has the obituary of David Galton who has died aged 84. I had not heard of him before but it seems, amongst many other achievements, he attracted the then very young John Goldman into the field of leukaemia research. Here it is, in case you would like to read it:
Kind regards

Incidentally, you will have seen in the obituary mention of the Lady Tata Memorial Trust. I had never heard of that but Val and I were on a tour of Rajasthan in India two years ago in a car made by Tata (a huge Indian corporation), so I had a look at the Tata company web site to see whether the Trust gets a mention. It does!
It was set up by Sir Dorabji Tata in memory of his wife, who died from leukaemia in 1930. It spends money on leukaemia research. If you want to have a look:
