Sorry - I first have to apologise for not being a regular visitor/contributor to this website. For those that know of us, Paul now has the leukaemia yet again in the spinal fluid and is receiving intrathecal chemotherapy.
Has anyone out there had radiotherapy to the brain and spine? If so, please let me know what happened
Judy
You are here
I really need some help - CML in CSF
Been meaning to email. Carol and Steven said that they saw you both at HH on Wednesday and how well Paul looked. Do I understand correctly that they are planning to give him radiotherapy to the brain and spine ?
I do know that leukaemia in the central nervous system can be eradicated with the chemo but possibly with Paul since it returned they are planning to use radiotherapy as well this time to make sure it doesn't come back. As for the effects of that I am sorry but I really have no experience of this, hopefully someone will pop up.
I would like to wish Paul good luck and hope that all this harsh treatment does not knock him down too much. Please keep me posted Judy.
Much love and best wishes
Elizabeth xx
Thanks for responding Elizabeth. The leukaemia in the cns came back a couple of months ago. they gave several triple intrathecals, but although this helped the leukaemia counts, it suppressed his platelets, neutrophils, etc. So for the last 6 weeks they have given a single intrathecal every 14 days. The leukaemia is returning. They want to give radiotherapy to the brain and spine, but Paul is feeling so unwell now, that I dont want to subject him to the side effects, when the benefits are likely to be minimal.
Love to you
Judy
