chest pain

Hi everyone,
just thought I would see if anyone has had similar chest problems as me.
I am 48, pcru, on 600mg Glivec for a little over three years and generally doing really well other than prostate problems which may or may not be linked with cml/glivec and regular diarhea.
On Monday evening I was sitting at the computer when I suddenly started getting tight pains across the centre of my chest and radiating up into my neck. I also felt nausiated and could not get relief. This has happened three previous times, always when at rest, and the pain comes in waves and lasts for about forty minutes.
After the third time I asked my specialist. He said to see my GP if it happened again. The GP when phoned on Monday told me to go straight to hospital.
By the time I got to hospital the pain had completely gone, but they did ecg tests, and blood work, They told me I was not having a heart attack at that moment, then kept me hooked up to the ecg moniter and waited six hours then did further blood work to see if I had had one earlier.
They said everything was fine, and I could go home. I followed up with my Gp next day. He ordered further blood work to check liver and cholesterol levels etc:
My blood sugar levels are fine, my cholesterol was excellent last time it was checked.
The current thoughts are angina, reflux or gall stones. I am booked for a heart stress test in three weeks time, this had been recomended by both the hospital and my doctor.
Any ideas?

Hi,
Did the pain come on soon after taking the Glivec?
Sometimes medication can lodge in the oesophagus if not taken with enough liquid.
Just a thought.
Paul

hi peter,
the pain sounds really distressing, but given you have had the tests to rule out cardiac arrest, then there must be another cause?
reflux can be a problem with glivec and i think the symptoms can be quite uncomfortable but i have not had such problems myself.
i am sure you will find the answer and hopefully it will not be too much of a problem.
please let us know how you get on.
have you tried taking Aloe Vera juice (pref. 100%)as this can really help with anything that disturbs the digestive process. this is available at most good health stores and really does help if taken regularly.
best to you,
sandy C ;o)

Hi Paul,
Thanks for the feedback. It was nine hours since I had eaten or taken my Glivec but I'll post when we do track down the issue.

Hi Sandy,
Thanks for the feedback.
My GP has got reflux on his list to investigate, however, it was nine hours since I had eaten anything and other than occasional nausea and diaharea, I doen't seem to have many ongoing problems. I will try the Aloe Vera juice though, I saw it in the shop the other day.
