New ...Can somebody explain me what is the meaning of my BCRABL level please ?

Hi everybody,

I am new in this very kind forum, and i need some of your help.

I have just received a letter from the doctor saying that my level of BCR ABL is at 2 *10-4 .

What is the meaning of this ? Is it a good news ? Can somebody help me ?

Thank you very much for everything

Courage

Hi Sultan,

It can be good news (probably) or it can be bad news. You need to know what your previous BCR/ABL reading was. If the number is going down, it is good news, and if it is going up it is not good news.

It looks like a PCR value of 0.0002 which is a fabulous result and also gets you into the Zero Club.

So,

YAHOOO!!! YIPPEEEE!!!

Not age wise...having CML the longest??

I slipped a few months ago and my Gleevec dosage was lowered from 400 mg per day to 400 one day and 200 the next///Anyone else been in this situation and how has it worked??

Hi Freeda,

Skip Duffie from Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada has had CML for 27 years.

This is quite remarkable because he still hasn't made it into the Zero Club. He is currently on the AMN107 trial. You can read his story at http://easyskip.tripod.com/

The oldest member in the Zero Club (#1) is Marty Gartenberg. I gave him this honor when I started the Zero Club on March 27, 2001. Marty is a BMT survivor and was so very helpful to me at the time I was struggling to find a clinical trial for STI571.

The date, March 27, 2001 is significant for me. This is the day that I took my first dose of STI571 (now called Gleevec). I started counting every person I could find on the CML lists that achieved CCR. In September 2001 I became # 102 in my own Zero Club.
