My husband was diagnosed in Sept 06. Was on 400mg of Glivex and bloods etc doing good. Had bone marrow check up last month and a poor improvement so upped to 800mg daily. Ususal side effects including stomach cramps so he's been on Omeprazole for approx 4 months - 40mg every morning. Anyone else on this? Is there a limit to the length of time you should be on this?

Hope your husband gets a better response on the increased dose of Glivec. However, already two new inhibitors available with more coming along so don't worry.
I have been taking Omeprazole on and off since my transplant over two years ago and no side effects. The only thing I can say is that when you want to go you need to go ! I hope it is helping his cramps. I wouldn't worry about staying on it etc. if it helps.

I have been on this for last two months due to stomach problems - cramps and indigestion mainly - with no problems.
I have been on Glivec for 5 years.
My Doctor started me on 20mg but has just reduced me to 10mg and this still works for me.
I had been wondering if this is okay to stay on long term so you have helped me in that respect.

I've been on omeprazole 20mg per day(losec)for the last (say) 12 years and Glivec 600mg per day for the last 6 years. No problems with taking them together - still get cramps though! Hope you and your husband are doing well.

My Mum is really going through it at the moment - she is having her 7th chemo today - but is really positive and in fighting spirit so I am just hoping and praying that things go well for her.
