CLM and DVT

Is there a link between CLM and getting a DVT?

Seven months ago, just before I was diagnosed with CLM, I had a DVT in my calf. The circumstances were such that I just should not have had a DVT and the suggestion was that the CLM contributed to it.

I had a steroid injection in my hip 2 weeks ago for bursitis (which has made that worse) and I now have another DVT in the same place as before. I am guessing that the injection triggered the DVT in an already vulnerable place.

Is there a known link between CLM and a tendency to develop a DVT?

Also, there are other things going on in that leg which make it difficult to sort out what is happening. I understand that the leg pains associated with Glivec are bone pains. I presume that these would occur in both legs, not just one. It would be helpful if someone with experience of these could describe them and their location.

A bit of advice would be very welcome.

I too experience leg pain. It is just in one leg also,in the lower part of the leg. I put it down to the Glivec as I didn't have any pain before I started witht the Glivec. I take Nurofen for the pain, it helps me. I was dx in June 2005 with CML nad have been on glivec since about July 2005.

Debbie,

Thanks for that. I have significant leg pains, but I'm pretty sure that is due to the DVT and bursitis. 30/500 co-codamol helps, but is addictive (as I have found out!). I also have a hernia on that side and a torn gastrocnemius muscle, but I don't think they are contributing much.

Trouble is, there is too much going on in that leg and isolating the possible causes of pain would be useful.

I have looked for references to CLM and Glivec with DVT but can't find any. Yet, I wonder if there is a link in me.
