PCR up
Hi Marian,
I am not sure if you should panic just yet. the rise in your pcr is not that much and may not be significant. you should also wait until you get another result to compare as it may well be that the sample was not a 'good' one.
there are other factors which affect the end result or ratio (which is the % number you end up with)..........
one is the number of normal genes (abl) in the sample (sometimes called the housekeeping gene) the other is the sample size.
do ask you doctor to explain this to you, it really helps when interpreting whether a rise is significant or not.
remember you need to compare at least another 2 more ratios-- or normal (abl) genes to abnormal (bcr/abl) genes-- before you make any decisions about changing you dose.
best wishes,
Sandy ;o)
Thanks Sandy
I really appreciate the reassurance. I do however know that King's want to increase my dose as I haven't got down to a 0.0?? in two years. Perhaps they'll just opt for 600 instead - at least that will be easier to handle.
I have requested a second PCR to be done - soon if possible. My next one is scheduled for beginning of April which is a full on BMB.
Thanks again
Marian
