Adrian on telly

Hello all.

You may have missed the BBC Breakfast programme this morning: just after 8.OOam there was an interview with Adrian Sudbury, the AML+CML patient campaigning for increased awareness of the need for bone marrow donation.

I have occasionally read his blog (Baldy's Blog) via this site and although he has sad news of his own condition, he is full of plans and ideas to encourage people to donate their bone marrow.

He was due to meet Gordon Brown today to put forward his brilliantly simple and eminently sensible proposals.

What a great bloke! Read his blog, catch the interview if you can (is it possible to see it again via your pc? Don't know about that(!)) and you'll see that he's the sort of chap who is quite capable of moving mountains.

Diana

Thanks Diana, I have taken a look at Adrian's blog and would suggest that people take a look at 'the drugs don't work' which suggest that Adrian is having a hard time at the moment in spite of his work on trying to encourage donation. Adrian seems to have stopped all drug therapy including Glivec which I feel is a real cause for concern and a cry for help/support.

My daughter is a student nurse attending Uni in Inverness, Scotland. Recently they were given a talk on bone marrow donation and the oportunity to go on the register. My daughter and her friends did this because of me but she was very surprised to see the high percentage of her year who had all gone along of their own accord.

Perhaps ALL Universities should have these open days and more young fit and healthy students might be encoraged to go on the register for bone marrow donation.

Dear Susan,
thanks for posting this link. I have put a more permanent link under Newswire in the hope that it will be seen and signed by more people.

best wishes,
Sandy
