toe and finger nails whilkst on Glivec

Does anyone else have this problem? It seems that my nails are deteriorating fast and my big toe nails look as if they are about to
come off!!
Any advice? I am sure it is one of the side effects of the Glivec. I had a lo of encouragement from this forum when I developed a terrible rash and was about to give up altogether - now gone thanks o a massive dose of prednisolone, prescribed by my GP and not the haematologist!
IS anyone else on calcium supplements?

hi Bill,
firstly let me say that I am so glad your terrible rash has now resolved and is a side effect of the past! that's great news, considering you were so affected by it that you were about to give up.

also, if you are taking calcium supplements then please make sure you take them at least 2 hours apart from your dose of Glivec as they can affect the way you absorb Glivec.

toe nails- I have not heard of nails being so affected that they are about to come off... there may be another cause i.e a fungal infection. this sort of infection can really take hold of the nail bed and is really difficult to get rid of.
check with your GP that what you have is not a fungal infection.

best wishes,
Sandy

Thanks Sandy. I'll post a note nextweek bout how I got on. Am at present way on holiday but will be seeing my GP next week.
