You are here

4th Anniversay today.

Hi

Today is my 4th anniversary since being diagnosed. I now have a PCR of 0.061 which my consultant said he would be pleased with if I keep at that level for the next 25 years.

It has been a roller coaster of a period in my life not CML related but we seem to be coming out the other side.
I have recently started my own business and life really is beginning to get back on track in ALL WAYS.

Regards to all

Steven D

Hi Stephen

It is so good to read some happy news!

Congratulations on reaching this milestone. I know exactly how you feel - I am lucky enough to still be here 7 years after first being diagnosed.

If someone would have said that to me seven years ago I dont think I would have believed it and now to hear people mentioning 10, 15 maybe 20 years is truly miraculous and certainly something to celebrate.

Just like you I feel that I have been on one hell of a roller coaster ride but now just feel like I am on the merry go round that is life!

Good Luck in your new business and here is hoping for many more happy healthy years.

Best wishes

Julie

Great news Steven, hope you and Carol are going to celebrate, if not now then soon.

Very best wishes to you both & see you again at the Hammersmith.

Phil.

Hello Steven,
Congratulations on reaching this anniversary. Although it is difficult for any of us to 'celebrate' a diagnosis of CML, as cancer patients we are fortunate enough to be able to celebrate our survival of what was, until just a few years ago, a terminal disease.
I wish you well in your new business venture and many more years of MMR.
Sandy

Steven - congratulations on another couple of milestones: 4 years and MMR. I could not be more delighted for you and Carol "coming out the other side". All our very best wishes come to you for your new business and for your future. Keep smiling!

We're due at the Hammersmith on 3 December. Maybe we'll see you there.

David and Val

Congratulations Steven.

I know how you feel as I approach my 3rd anniversary in October. My PCR results had been bopping along at 0.2 - 0.1 and King's put in forward for a trial to push it down further. However, I've been declined as the lab in Germany, where the PCR for the trial was performed showed me at 0.05 - MMR at last. It seems the German lab is the bees knees and Prof said yesterday that they now have an adjustment chart for me and so all my Kings PCRs will be in accord with this last one.

Hello Marian,
congratulations on the achievement of another zero. You are right to say that the German lab, which I assume is Prof.Hochaus' at Mannheim, has an excellent reputation. The pcr tests their have high sensitivity, so, well done!

My local Italian restaurant offers a free bottle of wine on the anniversary of 'a special date'. My special date was October 11 2006 when I was diagnosed with CML, so I'll be raising a glass 'on the house' in a a couple of months' time.

One of my pals said it was morbid to celebrate a leukaemia diagnosis...rubbish!! Just glad I've notched up another year. Worth drinking to, I'm sure you all agree!!

All the best

Diana

That is truly great news!

Lots and lots of luck with the new business, hope it all goes well for you - you deserve it.

Much love

Hi Susan!

You too - and any other celebratory CMLers can enjoy a free bottle on your CML anniversary...the restaurant is part of a national chain called Ego (sorry about the free 'puff' here) - just pop in, fill in a card with your email address and date of your anniversary and when you eat in - Voila! you get a free bottle.

Why not turn a disadvantage into an ADVANTAGE!

Cheers!

Diana

PS: You get a free bottle on your birthday, too!
